One more reason to fall in love with the Instant Pot …not like we needed one! I seriously am considering buying a second. I don’t know how I lived without mine. Have you splurged and bought yours yet? If not DO IT NOW!!! My mission is to make sure all my friends (you) add this appliance to your kitchen! This is the model I purchased here. Get it, you will thank me.
Recently I have been using mine for rice, oats, quinoa ect and it has saved me so much mess and time in the kitchen! I am not a clean cook. I repeat… I AM NOT A CLEAN COOK. I don’t know why, I guess I just get lost in the moment and a mini tornado is usually the result. This little “magic pot” has saved me from some BIG messes. Say goodbye to water splattered stovetops.
I bow down to this appliance. Literally. It amazes me daily.
Okay back to why you’re here. Quinoa (say it with me keen-wah) is one of my favorite super grains! Not only is it super tasty, its one of the most protein-rich foods we can eat! It contains twice as much fiber as other grains and is packed full of vitamins and minerals making it a great option to balance out your plate! I have a pretty strict “if you can’t pronounce it don’t eat it” policy… quinoa and acai were the exception. Eat them both. A lot.
Try making it in the Instant Pot next time its on the menu!
Instant Pot Quinoa
*Because you are using a pressure cooker rather than a stovetop, the water ratio will be less. No evaporation occurs when using the Instant Pot leaving the quinoa perfectly fluffy! Perfect quinoa every time. Pinky promise.
Ingredients
- 1 cup quinoa
- 1 cup liquid broth or water
- dash of salt
Instructions
-
Rinse quinoa in a fine-mesh sieve, if desired (most brands come pre-rinsed to remove the bitter coating called saponin)
-
Set the timer for 1 minute on Manual/High Pressure.
-
Walk away.
-
Allow for a natural pressure release (no not let out steam) after the cooking time has elapsed.
-
If the pressure hasn't released after 15 minutes, release any remaining pressure manually.
-
Fluff the quinoa with a fork, and serve immediately or place into freezer bags to enjoy later!
