Turkey & Swiss Waffle Panini and how to get your kids to be healthy eaters by Clean Eats & Treats
Lunch today was a honey mustard Applegate Turkey and Swiss waffle panini on Aspen Mills (LOCAL!) honey whole wheat bread! Add a tomato kabob, grapes, kiwi, carrot chips, Late July multi grain tortilla chips, jalepéno greek yogurt dip to round it out.
Wishing I had asked Santa for a panini press but then remembered I have a waffle iron. BAM! My lunch was identical but I wrapped my sandwich in romaine and skipped the bread. It’s the Gluten Free option.
I get asked a lot if my kids were born good eaters…
Here’s the thing.
Kids will eat what you allow them to. If you don’t offer the sugar and processed foods from the start, it isn’t even an option. Give them choices always. But let those choices be whole and healthy. My four year old chose her lunch today. She grabbed fruit and veggies from the produce drawer and chips from the pantry. She helped chop up her fruit and helped make her sandwich. Giving her that power makes her want to eat healthy! Teens are a totally different story. But same idea. I offer the good stuff. If they choose to leave and grab the bad its their choice. At least I know they are making good choices at home!!
Good luck and happy healthy little eats!
